Poland names condition for rejection of propane-butane from Russia

Poland is considering halting imports of propane-butane (liquefied petroleum gas) from Russia, but this decision requires coordination with other members of the European Union and will depend on the decision of the EU Council. According to government spokesman Piotr Muller, the initiative is within the competence of the Council of the European Union and no decision has been taken so far, so the import ban has not yet come into force.

Asked why Poland had earlier stopped importing Russian coal without consulting Brussels, Muller said that the decision was related to the consideration of certain risks and was taken at the government level.

Piotr Müller also emphasized that Poland expects that the decision to ban imports of propane-butane will be taken with solidarity by all EU countries.

Earlier it was noted that from February 2022 to date, the cost of liquefied hydrocarbon gases in the Russian market has fallen more than ten times (by 9.6 times), amounting to Br2.4 thousand per ton. This figure became the absolute minimum for trading on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange.
